ALLISON ALLEN'S PIANO STUDIO

A piano teacher in Gilbert, Arizona, I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I specialize in beginner to late-intermediate levels, with individual weekly 30 minute lessons. I teach during school hours to homeschooled students, allowing me to spend afternoons with my own 3 children. I am an ESA vendor.

ABOUT ME

I began taking piano lessons at the age of 5, continuing through my freshman year of college. I participated in the National Piano Playing Auditions for 13 years, as well as many festivals, and earned the High School Diploma Award from the National Guild of Piano Teachers my senior year of high school.

I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Secondary Education: Biology, but I have discovered that teaching music is my true passion.

Teaching piano lessons for over 20 years, I enjoy not only helping my students learn to read music and develop technique, but to gain a lifelong love of music.

STUDIO POLICIES

2023-24 Year: Lessons begin the week of July 31, and conclude the week of May 20. Summer lessons will then be scheduled on a week by week basis. No lessons will be held during the following weeks (following my children’s school calendar):

Oct 2-13 (Fall Break)

Nov 22-24 (Thanksgiving Break)

Dec 20-Jan 2 (Christmas Break)

Mar 11-22 (Spring Break)

Practicing: Regular piano practice (5 days a week) is essential to progression. Your child will get more out of lessons and your money will be better spent through regular practice. Schedule a time for practice in your daily routine. You may consider creating a chart and incentives if that helps. A general rule of thumb is that beginners should practice songs 3 times a day, or for 10-15 minutes. Students who have been playing longer should practice 15-20 minutes daily. Intermediate students should practice for at least 30 minutes.

Lesson Schedule: I have reserved space for your child with the understanding that we will have a lesson each week at that time. If a permanent conflict arises with this lesson time, please feel free to contact me to discuss alternate arrangements. I am happy to work with you to ensure a weekly lesson time that complements both of our schedules.

Payment: Tuition is $80 per month, due the first lesson of the month. You may pay through Venmo (@Allison-Allen-26), check, or cash, whichever is most convenient. I am also an ESA vendor and can accept payment through ClassWallet for those participating in the ESA program.

Missing Lessons: No payment credit or refund will be given for lessons missed by students. Please understand that the tuition you pay reserves a specific weekly time in my schedule for your child. You are paying for your lesson time, not for your attendance. I request that you notify me in advance if your child will be missing a lesson for any reason. Make-up lessons or time adjustments may be made at my discretion.

If I must cancel lessons due to illness or emergency, a reasonable effort to schedule a make-up lesson will be made. If a make-up lesson cannot be scheduled, the student will be given a credit on the following month’s tuition.
